Learning the fundamentals of how to build with clay is where I began my journey seated around a dining table once a week with Lia Klugman and her collection of ceramic enthusiasts.
I am aware that time is passing us by, and I love to look back and know that I made the most of it – it’s not a pressured thing, is a looking back in wonder thing.
As a clay maker I am surprised at how much patience I have for the process – it's a slow art and I am notoriously impatient. With clay, I seem to have all the time in the world to be at one with it and to see where it ends up. I begin with an idea, and it slowly unfolds. I love the natural form it takes and with a gentle nudge here and there each piece sings its own song.
No two pieces are identical, It is an intimate dance, and the result is just as it is - an elegant form that one can live with and admire daily.
To move forward marking time with creative intent – this is my purpose. There is no pause in the proceedings – as the days go by a new form comes to me and onward I go – long may this last.
